In Southern American cuisine The Holy Trinity is celery, green peppers and onions. In France their Trinity (mirepoix) consists of carrots, celery and onions. In fact, all major cuisines Mediterranean, Indian, Spanish, Chinese, Thai, Mexican, and many others, not to forget Italian have some variation of the Trinity. The ingredients for these Trinities are the leitmotif for each of the cuisines they represent. They are the foundation for our understanding of each regional cuisine. For those who wish to employ Social Media, The Holy Trinity consists of Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin, (Note: The ingredients for the internet may very for specific projects and as the ever changing internet continues to develop new and unique types of Social Media). If you were to click the Share Button at the bottom of each of these blogs and also located in the sidebar you would come face to face with nearly three hundred social media applications all waiting for you to put them to use. These are your spices and condiments, you get to choose from these to make your recipe standout from the rest. All this and we really haven’t talked much about what we’re going to cook.

If you set out to make a gumbo, a spaghetti, a bouillabaisse, a paella or a beef stew you would start with the Trinity for each dish and go from there. For me each of these dishes would include some olive oil and some BAM (garlic). From that point on each of the recipes would go in a different direction mainly depending on what items have been chosen to be featured in the recipe. The main ingredient might be chicken, sausage, any number of variations of beef, pork or fish or perhaps just vegetables. These combinations are endless, and you still get to add your personal touch with all those spices and condiments from your Share Button.

On the internet your main ingredient should almost always be your website or your blog. This is where you showcase what and who you are. Whether, it is personal or for business your website or blog should be the focus of your recipe. You will need the other ingredients, the spices, the condiments and especially the Holy Trinity to make your recipe unique. Have at it, I’ll be interested in tasting what you put together. One of my favorite recipes includes website, blog, the holly trinity (twitter, facebook & linkedin,) email, google bookmarks, digg, delicious and youtube to taste. Overall advice, stick to the basics and keep it as simple as possible. Too many spices tend to ruin a recipe. I would love to see what you have created. Enjoy!

It is my opinion everyone should have a website. Most people respond, “Why?” My initial response is, “Well your going to need help and have to pay me a boatload of money”. Truth be told, a Website doesn’t have to cost you anything out of pocket. It will however, demand some time and effort. Oh, and by the way the real and only reason to have a website is to enhance the quality of your life. Or, if you have a business, it makes your business better. If this doesn’t work for you, Don’t Do It! You then, in my humble opinion will be left on the outside looking in.

There are a number of resources available to produce a website (web presence) at no or very little cost. At this time I am using WordPress <wordpress.com> to produce this Blog. It’s free! You can also use <wordpress.org> to produce an actual website. There are other resources available which provide similar services <ning.com> or <blogger.com>, to name just a couple. And, there are tutorials on Youtube to help guide you through the process step by step. OK, the word “Free” came up. Not exactly true; remember, I mentioned time and effort on your part. Don’t know about you, but I place a value on my time and effort. There is much that can be done to amplify your web presence and make it more rewarding for both yourself and your audience. And, you get to decide what it is worth, in either time or money or both.

In the creation of a web presence you will indeed reap what you sow and nurture. There are many avenues which need to be considered. The notion that “if you build it, they will come” has assured the failure of many a website. Websites need to evolve, if not they will not succeed. Below, I have provided a video The Social Media Revolution II. It illustrates how fast things change in the cloud world and how important it is to be aware of those changes. You can go this alone and then again, you could pay me a boatload of money.

This is about Social Media and why it’s time has come whether we are ready or not. For heavens sake Apple, Macintosh, even Microsoft seemed strange names at one time. Then came Goggle, Yahoo and Amazon, who in their right mind would give corporations names like these? And, now we need to deal with the likes of Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, and countless others. Why bother? This is not my beautiful house. How did I get here? I’m here to tell you it is “the water flowing under ground”.

A number of months back I was at a presentation and the spokesperson put forth the notion that seventy five percent or more of all media (and therefore marketing) would not only emanate from the internet it would be dependent upon it. At first thought this seemed a bit exaggerated, and I have yet to find documentation for their source. But, the more I have thought about it the more it seems reasonable. Our phones and televisions are being governed by how the internet is expanding and those in the print media have most definitely felt the biggest hit. How many newspapers and magazines have folded up shop because they were unable to vanquish new media. This being said, how did we get here?

Truth be told I’m old enough to remember when a cup of coffee was a nickle if not free. Now, it’s a religious experience. Fact is “the times they are a changin” and there is little any of us could do to stop it. However, with a little effort we can make those changes fairly painless. The power of the internet is being bequeathed to the younger generation and we could go “gentle into that good night”, or we could do a better job of explaining it’s “same as it ever was”.

ONCE IN A LIFETIME
